Description

  • As well as his famous Hammam Bouquet, William also created scented dressings and tonics for the hair. William’s recipe books show that he had created a Bay rum preparation, known as Bayolea, rich in lemongrass, which itself is an unexpected twist on the traditional pimento based Bay rums.
  • Bayolea was retailed up until the 1980s, as part of a collection of hair tonics. Florimelle, Aleimma, and Bayolea were all used for different hair types, providing shine to the hair, and stimulation to the scalp. Penhaligon’s also produced Hair Tonics and Dressings in Extract of Limes, Hammam Bouquet, and Blenheim Bouquet, amongst others.
  • Bayolea has recently been re-imagined, and updated from its original lemongrass, lemon and vetiver scent, as the star of our comprehensive grooming range.
  • Bayolea contains mandarin, tangerine, lemongrass, cardamom, black pepper, neroli, lavender, cedarwood, sandalwood, musk, moss, patchouli and amber.
